CARES Model of Creative Life Story Work
The CARES Model of Creative Life Story Work – Advanced Practitioner Training
Available spots
Course Description
This advanced level, practice-based course is for practitioners who have completed the two-day foundation in Creative Life Story Work and wish to deepen their skills using the CARES Model — a trauma-informed, creative, and relationship-centred approach. The CARES framework – Culturally sensitive, Attuned, Responsive, Engaged, and Safe – builds on Creative Life Story Therapy (CLST) principles. It equips practitioners to use artmaking and therapeutic processes to embed emotional safety, coherence, and meaning within a child’s story. The model combines trauma-informed theory with practical creative methods that help children process experiences safely, strengthen regulation, and build identity and belonging. This experiential course supports practitioners to learn through doing. Over three days, participants explore creative tools, interventions, and reflective processes that enhance their ability to hold, pace, and facilitate safe, effective Life Story Work. Course Structure Days 1–2: Core CARES Training Introduction to the CARES Model and its application across CLSW. Exploring safety, attunement, and regulation in early phases of story work.
