Course Description

Created by the Centre for Creative Therapeutic Practice, this practice-based three-day course supports HCPC-registered practitioners to build or strengthen their skills in Creative Life Story Work using the CARES© approach. Who Is This Course For? This course is for HCPC-registered practitioners working with children and young people in care or adoption contexts. The training is trauma-informed, attachment-aware, and neurodivergent-affirming, and supports practitioners to meet Adoption Support Fund (ASF) criteria for delivering Creative Life Story Work. The CARES© approach (Culturally sensitive, Attuned, Responsive, Engaged, and Safe) is a trauma-informed, relationship-centred framework that builds on Creative Life Story Therapy (CLST). It integrates creative, sensory, and therapeutic methods to support emotional safety, regulation, identity, and meaning-making within a child’s life story. Learning is experiential and practical. Across three days, practitioners build confidence in pacing, holding, and facilitating safe and effective Creative Life Story Work.
